The Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases has started providing a new non-invasive cardiac therapy to patients who have tried the conventional methods of treatment with little success.

Senior heart physicians and surgeons told newsmen at a press briefing on Thursday that the new technique – known as angiogenesis in medical parlance – was considered a potential method to treat ischemic myocardium. They claimed that no such facility

Spacewalkers add hands to space station robot     ( 14-Mar-2008 )
 

Spacewalking astronauts added hands to a robot outside the international space station early Friday as experts on the ground prepared to beam up a software patch they hoped would fix a problem getting power to the giant machine.

The Canadian robot, named Dextre, needs to have power to heat its joints, limbs and electronics. The $200 million machine could be damaged if left cold for days.

Bear convicted for theft of honey     ( 14-Mar-2008 )
 
The taste of honey was just too tempting for a bear in Macedonia, which repeatedly raided a beekeeper's hives.

Now it has a criminal record after a court found it guilty of theft and criminal damage.

But there was an empty dock in the court in the city of Bitola and no handcuffed bear, which was convicted in its absence.

The case was brought by the exasperated beekeeper after a year of trying vainly to protect his beehives.
